The Harbinger class Cruiser is one of the most common starships found in Vegan Space.

Description / Specifications

Disappointing as a main fleet element, these Cruisers never lived up to the name. Lacking fighters and marines it never had the multi-role capabilities to carry out the variety of missions typical cruisers are asked to perform. The ridiculous jump 1 drives made strategic mobility an afterthought. The 6G pursuit acceleration and agility would not disgrace more modern designs but, the hull metal armor cladding was not great. It did carry redundant screen generators and a backup computer system which allowed it to sustain some critical hits and stay in the fight. The bright spot was in the weapon load, it carried the largest particle accelerator spinal mount available at the time. This monster combined with its missile load could cripple enemy ships.

History & Background / Dossier

Great for defensive work as envisioned but squadrons of these ships needed extensive tanker support to operate farther from home base.
