The human colonisation strategy for Alpha Centauri included many people in frozen sleep and many millions of frozen embryos of the animals that would be required to Terraform (Genetically Colonise) the new world. This process was supported by some incredibly complex artificial wombs that would gestate these embryos and bring them to birth. This technology also allowed for successful creatures to be cloned - and some states used the same technology to increase their human populations. Such creatures are called In-Vitro Clones.
Legal Implications[edit]
Certain States (particularly New Heaven) regard In-Vitro Clones of humans as a separate legal class to those conceived and raised by human parents. Such clones have an automatic requirement to "Pay off their debt to society" through mandated service to the state in its governmental institutions. Notable numbers of New Heaven's military front line are classified as In-Vitro Clones
