A Sloop is a Royal Caledonian Navy term for a light escort vessel. They fill the same role as vessels referred to as "Escorts", "Escort Cruisers", "Destroyer Escorts" or "Corvettes" in other fleets.
Caledonian Sloops are generally between 800 and 1,300 tons, and are in particular designed for high on-station endurance, carrying enough supplies to remain on patrol for 6-8 weeks without resupply.
