Dunbarton is a lightly-populated planet that is the agricultural center of the Principality of Caledon.
Conditions/Environment
Dunbarton is a lush garden world. The planets two main continents, which straddle the equator, are almost literally greenhouses with thick vegetation growing in nutrient-rich soil that, geologically, is relatively young, watered by frequent heavy rainfall. Indeed, space for most of Dunbarton's settlements had to be hacked out of the dense native vegetation, which is a combination of a tall, thick-stemmed grass and "antlerweed", which is best described as a dense, woody 2-3 meter tall network of woody thorns. This dense, tangled mass of vegetation is called "The Mat" by locals, and is a constant foe, encroaching on farms and roadways and needing constant trimming.
While some early settlements farmed out their land way too quickly, the planet's eighty million residents learned to conserve their soil early in history.
History
The current population descends from Caledonian settlers who settled on the planet in 225, a joint venture by the Royal Caledonian Expeditionary Service and Perham Land Ventures, a land speculation company that commissioned and chartered a large expedition.
While Perham went bust on the original venture, the settlers found an extremely profitable market for their goods.
Population and Government
Except for the major city, Tyne, on Tynedale Island off the coast of Hibernia, the first major continent, most of the population is settled in smaller coastal cities linked by boat, and inland agricultural settlements carved from the thick undergrowth.
Economy/Imports/Exports/Trade
While agriculture is the largest civil business, the starport is a key producer of Tech Level 11 vessels. The downport at Tyne, and the up-port, produce a wide variety of smaller merchant ships and warships.
Fealdoun Island, a 3,000 square km island about 200 km out to sea from Tyne, is the naval downport for the "Dunbarton Navy Yard" up-port, at which the Royal Navy Fleet Train is headquartered.
Starport and Transport Infrastructure
The planet has a small "A" Starport.
Boats and ships are the prime movers of goods, along with roads hacked out of the underbrush.

People and Customs
Outside Tyne and the major downports, most of Dunbarton is rural, even bucolic.
People are friendly, but suspicious of people from outside their immediate community. This suspicion extends to authority, as well; there is a strong libertarian streak on Dunbarton.
Within the communities, on the other hand, there is a very strong sense of communitarianism, stoked by decades - in many cases centuries - of relative isolation in towns and farms carved from miles of dense brush, mostly impassable on foot.
