The Shattershard subsector is named for the worlds centered on Returne (H-2914) that were apparently destroyed in an ancient war. Massive Battle Monitors patrol the Returne system, destroying anything entering the sector.

The surrounding systems have been decimated, with no planets found in any of the systems marked as part of the Shattered Worlds.

No Varan presence exists in this subsector, save that of automated early warning probes. These are all passive systems. To date, no jump has ever been detected from Returne to any other solar system. It would appear the Battle Monitors do not have jump capability.
