Luken is a poor, nonindustrial world.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This world has few prospects for economic development.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Laraa Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- During the Long Night this world was named Shamem Er.

History & Background (Dossier)
The entire healthy adult population works mining out the various minerals and Sac-quai, an underground edible root that forms the mainstay of the Luken diet. Thee adults work two weeks at the mine followed by a week of rest (of Festival as the locals refer to it). The cities are occupied only by the elderly, the infirm, pregnant and nursing mothers, and youths under 16. This last factor has make Luken the juvenile crime capital of the quadrant and adults have been warned to avoid traveling at night beyond the Festival areas as bands of youth prey on lone Op-di's, as adults are known.
