Alternate Hull Classification Scheme #1[edit]

Simplest: Each Tier (ACS » BCS » CCS » FCS » WCS) increases the previous by 1 power of 10.

Define ranges by order of magnitude (value in parentheses is lower "smallcraft" range):

  1. ACS: Auxiliary/Adventure Class: (10)100 - 2,400 tons
  2. BCS: Battle/Bulk Class: (100)1,000 - 24,000 tons
  3. CCS: Capital Class: (1,000)10,000 - 240,000 tons
  4. FCS: Fleet Class: (10,000)100,000 - 2,400,000 tons
  5. WCS: World Class: (100,000)1,000,000 - 24,000,000 tons


The overlap in the cases above allows for the classification of some smaller vessels in the larger vessels scheme when necessary, allowing a degree of overlap between the lower range of one coding system and the upper range of the previous coding system for intercompatibility.
So when clarity is needed:

  • ACS coded ships can be prefaced with "A/" before the hull-size code:
  • A/0 = (unused: vehicle / < 3-ton )
  • A/1-A/9 = "Smallcraft" (Small/Very-Light: 10-90 ton)
  • A/A-A/B = Light ACS Vessels (100-200 ton)
  • A/C-A/J = Standard ACS Vessels (300-900 ton)
  • A/K-A/Z = Large ACS Vessels (1,000-2,400 ton)
  • BCS coded ships can be prefaced with "B/" before the hull-size code:
