Note Regarding Infra-Red Range of the Optical Spectrum[edit]

The T5 Ruleset inadvertently made an error in the assignment of nanometer wavelengths to the Infra-Red Ranges on the Sight Sense Table. Apparently, someone mistook 1000nm for 1000μm, and the "Far Infra-Red" Range downward is off by a factor of 1000 or more. I have made an attempt at a suggested errata-corrected table below for those interested in correct values.

  • OPTION #1: Keep the chart as is, but in the Extended Color Name column in all cases I have changed character string "Infrared" to "Near-Infrared" (and Code "IR" or "Ir" or "ir" to ==> "NIR").
  • OPTION #2: Keep the Range Names in the Extended Color Name column from the Published Charts as is, but move the titles to their proper ACTUAL nanometer ranges. Note that for this option I tried to keep the Infrared letter-codes in the T5 Code column lined up as much as possible with the existing published T5 Names and Extended Color Names in their respective columns, and thus they have been "stretched" downwards over a greater range, with new Letter-codes and Extended Color Names filling in the gaps in between.
  • OPTION #3: In the Alt Code Column I have suggested a different Infrared Code scheme based on the Letter-designations of the actual Astronomical Infrared Range Band Letters, which fortuitously all match up with either unused T5 Code letters (save one) or use T5 Code letters already in the Infrared Range that can be reassigned/readjusted. (And the one that is already in-use/unavailable is in a dual-band double-letter range where we can use the other letter).
