Born Colin Edward Douglass in -199, son of Martin and Margaret Douglass, Duke and Duchess of Hamblenshire.
Colin grew up in the shadow of his older brother; he served as an officer in the Caledon Army until called by his brother to take over as caretaker prince while his son John's and Colin's nephew Colin (named in his uncle's honor) learned the job. The agreement was in place before he took the throne; his children were all behind the future Colin III in the order of succession.
Colin II ruled through 14 years marked by prosperity (with a few sharp recessions thrown in), and some short, sharp combat with the Reavers. Finally in -142, Colin III was judged ready to take the throne; Colin II stepped down at age 57. The younger Colin was 20.
The elder Colin spent the next 30 years working as a patron of the sciences.
