Description / Specifications[edit]

Self-aware systems (missiles, for instance) appear at TL-11, but these are not "artificial" intelligence; they use organic or semi-organic brains. Self-aware computers show up at TL-14. Again, these are not considered to have true artificial intelligence. True artificial intelligence -- and thus artificial personhood -- appears at TL-16 {Traveller5 Book 2 pp 171, 230, 231, 249).

At fantastically high levels of technology (say, TL-25 or so), artificial intelligences manage all of society's systems {Traveller5 Book 2 pp 229).
