Envisioned as a low cost Jump-5, long range strike cruiser; it was reclassified as a heavy cruiser for political reasons. It carries the heaviest possible meson spinal mounted gun available at TL–14. It has enough missile batteries to qualify as a missile cruiser. The maneuver drives were gutted as unnecessary, and as a result it can only manage 1 G acceleration. The room allowed heavy armor plating to be retrofitted to the prototype while still in space dock. A pair of repulsor bays were then added, and a single battery of beam lasers, particle accelerators, fusion guns, and triple sand casters round out the weapon systems. It can carry a pair of cutters and three small marine platoons. It carries extra screens and a back up Model/8 fib ship computer, in case of battle damage.

During the new era a few of these fell under vampire control and were observed operating in the Loki (SR 2228) (world) system.
