Zuflucht is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the New Islands Subsector of Reft Sector.
- This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
Astrography and planetology
Zuflucht is the only natural interface between the Regency Safe and the Islands Cluster.
Commercial vessels come through Zuflucht on the transRift run, restocking at the port while their crews enjoy some groundside time.

History and background
Zufluct was settled by refugees from a civil war on Topas. Voyageur happened to arrive in system looking for colonists just as the war was ending. [2]
The people of Zuflucht are, on the whole, very friendly to ‘The Fleet’ as they call the Imperial Navy. Indeed, some try to sign up to join the navy, which does not normally recruit beyond the Imperial borders. The world is sometimes accorded unofficial status as an Imperial Client State to permit this.
Government and Society
Zuflucht is home to around 50,000,000 people spread out across the globe. Society is fairly peaceable despite (or perhaps because of) a lack of formal laws. There is an unspoken code in place governing acceptable behaviour, and a strong sense of community. More serious crimes are often dealt with informally by parties of concerned citizens. Governmental functions are handled by a small corps of professional clerks and bureaucrats, while actual decisions are made by participatory democracy, with everyone having a vote. Curiously, this includes children.
New Era
Zuflucht has seen its naval base significantly improved by the Imperial Regency. This world serves as the gateway between the Imperial Regency and the Islands. As such, it is used as both the first line of defense for the Imperial Regency, and as the commercial conduit. [3]
