Zish has an unbreathably thin atmosphere and very little surface water. The system has a population between 1 million and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions make it dangerous to visitors. The world has a climate with temperatures at the upper range of human endurance. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Argi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Zish, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Kis.

World Starport (Sp)

Zish has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Size (S)

Zish is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

World Atmosphere (A)

Zish has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Zish has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

World Population (P)

Zish has a population of 1,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Government (G)

Zish is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. A continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and replaced by allies or protégés. The reasons for the change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.

World Law Level (L)

Zish has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Technology Level (TL)

Zish possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

History and background[edit]

The system has a major Scout training academy. A large civilian population has grown up to support the base which is used to train Scouts in vacuum and near vacuum conditions.
