Description (Specifications)

The Xenon class Heavy Fighter was designed for service with the Royal Peladon Navy (the RPN), the space arm of the military forces of the Kingdom of Peladon. It has a streamlined flattened sphere configuration and is extremely heavily armored for its size. The vessel is fitted with a sophisticated computer and advanced electronics that are tied into the bridge. The vessel is fast, but the design trades agility for armor. The Xenon class mounts a single fusion gun.

1.	Tonnage	The Xenon class is constructed using a 90 Ton hull built in a Flattened Sphere configuration. The hull is fully streamlined and has airfoil surfaces, giving excellent atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems. The vessel does not have an airlock. The vessel has a sturdy retractable undercarriage, allowing surface landings.
2.	Crew	1 crew (the Pilot). Accommodations There are no crew accommodations, though pilots are known to create an impromptu bunk on the bridge. There is one Low Berth. It is intended as a means to extend the vessel's endurance but due to the inherent risks associated with low berths, especially given the absence of any kind of onboard medical support, its use is not favored. Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There is an emergency locker.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Maneuver-6 drive and a Power Plant-8, giving performance of 6-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 6. The internal fuel tankage gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section is controlled from the bridge. Access to the machinery can be gained via a sealable hatch.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the small craft bridge is a Model/6 computer: no backup computer is installed. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, an advanced sensor array, and has an avionics suite. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command. It is equipped with a sophisticated ECM package.

6.	Armament	The normal weapons fit-out for a Xenon class is: x1 Fixed forward-firing Fusion Gun.
7.	Defenses	The hull is very heavily plated, structurally reinforced, and built with secure bulkheads and compartments that give it a High Guard armor rating of 13. The vessel is not fitted with screens or other passive defensive systems.
8.	Craft	The vessel carries no subcraft.
9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 7.2 Tons. The hull has inherent fuel scoops. The vessel is not equipped with fuel purification equipment.
10.	Cost	The basic cost of the vessel is MCr155.97 Architects Fee: MCr1.560
11.	Construction Time	24 weeks (5.5 months) as standard. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12.	Comments	Standard cargo capacity amounts to 0.4 Tons: it is accessed by a hatch.

History & Background (Dossier)

The Xenon class Heavy Fighter is a prototype design that has been designed and constructed, at considerable time and expense, on the world of Bilsham. A single example has been completed and has successfully undergone trials. A second member of the class has been laid down but the completion date is estimated in years.
