Wave Chasers
The Wave Chasers are a diaspora located located on the spinward side of Datsatl Sector and Chit Botshti Sector
- As of 1105 it is starting to encounter Zhodani Space.
- Like most known interstellar Droyne associations, it is less of a government and more of a project. The closest thing to an official Oynprith name roughly translates to Anglic as "this thing that we are doing", which does not distinguish from other projects that other Droyne are doing, so this article uses the unofficial Anglic name used in the Solomani Preserve records the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service learned of this project from.

NOTES: The Wave Chasers were unknown to the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service until 1104, but following standard practice, the above codes were retroactively added upon the their discovery.
Description (Specifications)
A chain of colonies, forming a supply path from Zhodani space to Oytriloyt. The colonies exist first and foremost to supply the colony fleets that pass down the chain (and any ships coming back up), only establishing themselves as worlds in their own right in order to support their purpose.
The chain is not a cohesive government in any way. The colonies do not answer to one another or to Oytriloyt, but they supply fuel and spare parts to anyone migrating along the chain. Each colony seems to be on track to expand to and eventually stabilize at roughly hundreds of millions, which will greatly expand the number of Droyne in Datsatl Sector and establish a significant Droyne presence in Chit Botshti Sector, but this is a side effect.
History & Background (Dossier)
In 1037, some months after the Empress Wave finally passed over Yaskoyloyt, conservatives of the Yaskoydri Technocracy who still clung to the ancient mission of their ancestors from thousands of years ago, to get help from Grandfather without actually entering Charted Space, came to think that perhaps it was too late: this Wave was what their ancestors had come to deal with. Unwilling to give up on the long-delayed mission, they realized there was still a way to accomplish it: ask the nearby Droyne to do it for them.
The request was accepted without hesitation. The Droyne were likewise still reeling from the Wave's aftermath, but that did not matter. Their long time neighbors had a mission for them, and they would comply.
However, the Wave presented a conundrum: jump past it, and it would soon catch up and greatly damage the fragile beachhead. Further, the Technocracy suspected that Grandfather might no longer exist - that only his legacy might be contactable. So, the Technocracy representatives asked the Droyne to colonize a chain of worlds, establishing a line of outposts stretching into Charted Space, chasing but never quite catching up to the Empress Wave, and establishing contact with whatever civilization they ran into.
The first colony was established in 1041. Every two years would see another colony added to the chain two or three parsecs from the last one, each with a few thousand Droyne, the same government type, and the same industrial base. This effort reached the sector border in 1097.
Shortly over a decade later, the effort finally ran into the ravaged outskirts of Zhodani space. The Droyne had been asked to bring the light of civilization. Neither the Technocracy requesters nor the Droyne themselves knew of the ancient relationship between pre-stellar zhodani and chirpers, which Zhodani historians still taught. By this time, the Zhodani Consulate was quite aware that Chirpers were essentially uncasted Droyne. The scouting expeditions, surveying systems for the next colony, were completely flummoxed when they became beacons of hope to the recovering Zhodani worlds.
The chain of worlds soon (starting in 1111, after the Fifth Frontier War stopped diverting resources) became a long trade route, enabling pilgrimages between Chit Botshti Sector and Yaskoyloyt.
Language & Letters (Communication)
As with most droyne efforts where there is no strong reason to adopt another language, Oynprith is their official language. Once the rimward end reaches Zhodani space, Zdetl became increasingly common on worlds near that end.
Colony numbering was done in base six, typical for the Droyne. Thus, Oaloyt 05 came right before Oaloyt 10. Whether due to psionic prescience, good guessing, or some other factor, the Droyne believed from the start that the chain would end before needing three digits. This belief turned out to be correct.
