A region in space with a lack of Systems. In this case usually even a deficiency of Stars without bodies.

Void regions, "Devoid of systems" provide barriers to interstellar travel, sometimes there is a high-jump route across a void, with stepping-stone systems along the path. Voids are usually part of the galactic spiral pattern. Examples near the Imperium include the Great Rift to spinward, The Windhorn in the Vargr Extents, and the Lesser Rift, Trailing and coreward of the Imperium.
