Vilian Subsector is Subsector N of Astron Sector.
- It lies within Charted Space.
- It is a lawless, undeveloped frontier.
Description / Specifications[edit]
Vilian Subsector is a largely unpopulated and undeveloped frontier. Some worlds within the region may never have had an intelligent being visit them.
- The resources of the subsector are almost entirely untapped.
- The region has been noted as a potential site for colonization by out of sector interests.
Astrographic Features & Trade Routes: 1105[edit]
The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Vilian Subsector:
- The subsector is a relatively low stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Naliso system.
- The subsector contains no rift regions.
- The Korsumug Main reaches its coreward limit on the rimward edge of the subsector.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Vilian Subsector.
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Clusters & Traces[edit]
Two major clusters lie within the subsector.
- Part of the Armory Cluster lies on the spinward edge of the subsector.
- The Vilian Cluster dominates the central part of the subsector.
Borealis Group[edit]
The Borealis Group can be seen as a bright, dense, noticeable grouping of stars in the skies to rimward.
- It is a huge cluster of stars centered on the supergiant Theta Borealis.
- It is a distinctive astrographic feature that can be observed from all across Charted Space.
World Listing: 1105[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Vilian Subsector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
Subsector Summary[edit]
Note that this section is awaiting an AAB Interal Records update.
History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Vilian Subsector is a remote, undeveloped backwater, though it does experience a relatively large amount of activity compared to many other subsectors of Astron Sector.
Occasionally, the following groups may be encountered:
- Patrolling vessels of the Trooles Confederation Navy.
- Small numbers of Human pioneers and explorers.
- Deserters from the Trooles Confederation armed forces.
- Rag-tag human refugees from rimward, fleeing the Jaibok raiding.
- Small numbers of Jaibok and Jansa raiders.
Military Forces: 1105[edit]
The Astron Frontier Patrol, a powerful flotilla of the Trooles Confederation Navy, patrols the region.
Far-flung Jaibok raiders, elements of the Imperial Korsumug Navy, occasionally operate within the subsector.
- It is believed that the Jansa, allies of the Jaibok, may have established one or more covert bases within the region.
- These may be connected to naval operations, raiding, or espionage missions against the Trooles Confederation.
Polity Listing: 1105[edit]
No polities exist within the subsector.
The Trooles Confederation, a small state within Theta Borealis Sector, considers the rimward part of the subsector "defended territory". Its naval vessels patrol the rimward systems of the subsector to keep them clear of Jaibok and Jansa who may have slipped past their defenses.
- The Confederation actively defends the coreward end of the Korsumug Main, including Veskric, the furthest coreward world on the main, lying just within the rimward edge of Astron Sector.
- The Confederation Navy occasionally conducts sweeps through the Vilian Cluster.
Native Sophonts (NILs): 1105[edit]
The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated in this area:
- Ichachi of Vilian. Pale-furred, technologically primitive, angry, six-limbed scavengers with extreme religious views from a cold tundra world.
Demographics: 1105[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:

- 995-1065: Second Survey charts the subsector.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
