Also called the Old Vilani Imperium, this polity lasted from the first Vilani jump drive expeditions in -9235 (which very quickly led to first contact) until it was reorganized into the First Imperium in -4045. As of 1105 it is the oldest polity in Charted Space to have surviving interstellar polity descendants (the Third Imperium and the Julian Protectorate; technically also the Solomani Confederation insofar as it seceded from the Third Imperium, even if the Vilani Hegemony had not reached that far rimward prior to becoming the First Imperium).
