Vargrlaunch is a barren fluid hellworld with oceans of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, or hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.

  • This world has no overt population, government, or law level.
  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
  • This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
  • This die back world was once settled and developed, but the inhabitants have either died off or left leaving behind the ruins and remnants of their civilization.
  • It is a member of the Pirian Domain in the Varu Subsector of Gakghang Sector.

For about 1,000 years, Vargrlaunch was the rallying point for the slaving raids into the Vargr Extents known as the Vargr Love Bombing, having been originally colonized and named for this purpose. Generation after generation sustained the practice, both when it was popular and when it was widely seen as immoral (not to mention temporarily illegal), in busy times and when raids were scarce, on and on in an endless cycle that was only finally broken by the Empress Wave's passage in 1080. Recorded footage says it was a slave Vargr who disabled the life support and caused the final remaining population to perish, out of a professed love and mercy for the last few survivors.

Vargrlaunch was still unpopulated in 1150 when Pirian Domain scouts discovered Virus in Ghoekhnael Sector. Makeshift logistical bases were established to support the subsequent holy war and processing of Vargrs "rescued" from their homes, either retrieved from Virus-conquered worlds or forcibly taken to deny them to Virus.

By 1200, the war was done and - with Ghoekhnael Sector largely depopulated, leaving no more Vargrs to abduct - the planet was mostly abandoned once more, save for a group of historians making a museum of the world.

Mainworld Data

No information yet available.

Mainworld Size (S)

Vargrlaunch is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Vargrlaunch has an Insidious Atmosphere which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit, but extreme conditions cause the corrosive effects to defeat any personal protective measures in a few hours. TL–10 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Vargrlaunch has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

Vargrlaunch has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law Level (L)

Vargrlaunch has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
