The Varan Subsector is named after the people and planet of the same name. The Varan homeworld at K-2023 has more than 10,000 years of documented history. The Varans discovered jump 2043 years ago, marking a significant change in their view of the universe.
Until 152 years ago, they were on the technological fast track. The Winnowing slowed the growth rate dramatically, and the Varan are only now getting back to their previous level of achievement.
