The VCS 889 class Survey Ship is a science starship.

Description (Specifications)

It is a vessel with 5-G and J-1 performance. The asteroid survey ship model 889, was well adapted to military service as it already processed a thick platisteel armored hull. This allowed it to survive impacts with space debris and to afford the long duration survey crews some radiation shielding.

  • Two triple beam lasers were included to blast asteroids open and for mining. A triple missile turret replaced the mineral sensor probe launcher originally installed.
  • It ordinarily carries no subcraft nor drones. The original, unmodified models had a mineral sensor probe launcher.
  • It has a 8 sophont crew and no marines.
