Uurku is a world suited to becoming an agricultural world, but with a population between 10,000 and 100,000 sophonts, but lacks the capability to produce or process sufficient resources to export its projected agricultural produce. This world is a satellite of a gas giant or another planet in the system. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Arnakhish Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Uurku, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight and a baronet. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This is the homeworld of the Ashdak Meshukiiba, a Minor Race. During the Long Night this world was named Largi Iiur.

Astrography and Planetology

Uurku is located on the Vilani Main.

The world is a satellite of the innermost gas giant Stayla. Uurku appears from the available geophysical and planetological evidence to be a fragment of a larger body. Scars on the surface of the other satellites of Stayla seem to indicate a multiple collision, possibly from a body that wandered too close to the gas giant, was struck, then broke up under the massive tidal forces.

A second world in the habitable zone Rabir has a vague resemblance to Terra in size, rotation, gravity and natural satellite. Rabir however has elevated levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, giving acidic precipitation. Both plants and animals native to this planet are accustomed to the high carbonic acid levels in the rain, but long-term visitors should take precautions). Rabir has large bodies of water, but its close orbit prevents ice caps forming, and with elevated ozone in the atmosphere weather world-wide, is always found to be clement. Very few species of fauna exist (5% of Terra), and very many species of flora (twice as many as Terra). All major landmasses are covered by rainforest to the seashore. The atmosphere is humid and hazy, and the whole surface of the planet is subject to great fogs and mists, on a scale rarely seen. Ecologists speculate that the planet is in a minor greenhouse effect, apparently recovering from a major ecosystem overload, which occurred circa -300,000 Imperial. Rabir has a 28-hour day and a 154-day yearly rotation, with almost no axial tilt at all.

The Uurku has been designated as the mainworld of this system while the status of Rabir is under discussion with the IISS and the local nobility.

Mainworld Data

World Starport (Sp)

Uurku has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Size (S)

Uurku is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

World Atmosphere (A)

Uurku has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Uurku has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

World Population (P)

Uurku has a population of 10,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Government (G)

Uurku is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law Level (L)

Uurku has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)

Uurku possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Uurku, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

Native Lifeforms

Rabir is also host to one of the universe's most remarkable symbiotic unions where the sum of the whole is so much greater than the sum of the parts, the Ashdak Meshukiiba. They are a symbiotic lifeform between Ashdak Meshukiiba and Spence's Dracaena Marginata Shrimp.

In 1102 Saloika Bremiurin discovered the true nature of the Spence’s (dragon tree) shrimp and astounded the scientific community of Xeno-biologists by revealing the first unique reproductive cycle found in over 2 centuries.

History & Background (Dossier)

Vilani farmers and miners originally settled Rabir in the -5500s. The original Makhidkarun settlers, paid very little attention to the planets non-profitable resources, in particular they ignored the fauna of Rabir.

Like its neighbor Khaem, Uurku is another minor planet owing it habitation to a modest supply of useful metal ores. The first prospecting teams arrived in 586.
