Mainworld Data[edit]

World Starport (Sp)

Urdanis has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Size (S)

Urdanis is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

World Atmosphere (A)

Urdanis has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Urdanis has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

World Population (P)

Urdanis has a population of 10,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

World Government (G)

Urdanis is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will have better rules of succession and may last longer or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.

World Law Level (L)

Urdanis has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.

World Technology Level (TL)

Urdanis possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Urdanis, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The tunnel environments of Urdanis have been home to Chirpers for as long as records have been kept. The tunnels (the name is misleading; they are in fact more large chambers than tunnels) are concentrated around a huge crater in the northern hemisphere and support their own self-sustaining ecosystem. The origin of the tunnels is a mystery, but no one disputes they are artificial.

Some hold the tunnels are an Ancients site, but the IISS has refused to give them this classification.
