The class A Starport at Starbelt (Gateway 1924 A000647-B) builds a class of Starbelt Class Fleet Tenders for the Trindel Confederate Navy (or TCN). This facilitates the movement of Trindel Class Battle Riders and Taravesh Class Gunboats between confederate worlds. There are three BatRons in the TCN. The 1st TCN Battle Squadron is stationed at Trindel (Gateway 1725 B565989-C), the 2nd TCN Battle Squadron is anchored at Taravesh (Gateway 1527 B799955-C) and the 3rd TCN Battle Squadron is posted to Archipelago (Gateway 1726 B78A657-A). Each admiral has several large monitors to defend their systems which are too large to move with the Fleet Tenders. These TL–12 200,000 ton Archipelago Class System Monitors are the size of a Dreadnought, but lack a jump drive. Each member world has a few of these monitors for security.
As an experiment hundreds of years ago, the antecedents of the modern confederacy launched thirteen flotillas of monitors on a long sub light voyage to other colonized worlds, because there were no transports available, large enough to jump them. Minimum low watches were placed aboard these ships and the AI computers would wake select crew to maintain systems or in the event of an emergency. In various forms subsequent cultural chaos, the top secret location, trajectory and speed of these formations were lost. Eventually, amateur astronomers and university colleagues rediscovered these wayward ships and fleet vessels were dispatched to intercept and check on their progress. A few groups were fine, running as expected. Some survivors elected to remain with their ships. Some welcomed the opportunity to escape. One group had been damaged and fell victim to a form of horror few can imagine. Records were sealed until recently. Popular media were produced based on the case. A few groups were recovered with the use of a pair of million ton Gorodish Class Fleet Tenders from the Third Imperium, seeking to curry favor and secure trade rights. Some groups are visited periodically with crew ferried back and forth. A little time aboard the long cruise is seen as a rite of initiation among TCN brass. Some of the original thirteen formations have actually arrived at their destinations.
