Subpages are a feature to organize content of an article. Subpages are designated by adding a "/" in the name of the article. Like a directory tree in a computer, you can add several levels of subpages to a single article.

General use subpages[edit]

These sub-pages are in general use throughout the wiki. Not every article has these subpages, but articles may have them and will be marked appropriately.

/secret: The secret subpage serves as a way to separate player information from referee information. The article body should have Imperial Encyclopedia data available to players. The /secrets subpage then has information that should only be know by the referee.; example: Core Expedition has Core Expedition/secret; template: {{secret}}; displayed as:

This article has a secret.

/errata: Several of the articles for the books have an errata page, publishing the last known errata for the book. We recommend using the talk page for discussion of additions to the errata pages.; example: Encyclopaedia Dagudashaag has Encyclopaedia Dagudashaag/errata
/meta: Some articles have a meta subpage. These page contain out-of-game information, history of the topic, and background for the article. We recommend the talk page as the location for editor interaction and shared items task lists.; example: Subsector Delta Subsector has Subsector Delta Subsector/meta; template: {{metadata}}; display as:

This article has metadata.

/es, /en: The language code sub-pages are there to hold translation of the default English language pages into other (current world) language. The "en" pages are English, the "es" pages are Spanish, and there may be other languages as well. If you are interested in translating one or more of the wiki articles into another language, please contact the Stewards, and we'll make sure you have directions.

Sector subpages[edit]

The sector pages have several subpages holding data generated about the sector and its worlds. The economic, sector, and summary pages are generated and should not be edited.

(sector)/economic, (sector)/economic/<milieu>: Automated; The (sector)/economic subpage is a table of generated economic data as part of the PyRoute project. Trade_Map_Key#Sector_Economic_Data_Key is the key to the columns in the data. In some cases the generation process has been run on the data for different milieus and the data is put on separate subpages. The {{InfoboxSector}} template generates a link to this page automatically.

(sector)/sector, (sector)/sector/<milieu>: Automated; The (sector)/sector subpage is the sector’s UWP data from Traveller Map. It is generated as part of the PyRoute project. In some cases, the generation process has been run on the data for different milieus and the data is put on separate subpages. The {{InfoboxSector}} template generates a link to this page automatically.

This text is included into the main sector article using the Template:Summary. Historical[edit]

(sector)/layout data: A hand-generated list of worlds and other data about the sector. This was used to update the world articles and sector pages. It is no longer updated and may be out of date.

(sector)/climate: The (sector)/climate page contains a non-canon, hand-generated set of climate data using the Mongoose Traveller rules. It is no longer updated and may be out of date.

(sector)/world list,: The (sector)/world list is a hand-generated list of worlds in the sector, used in an early process to fill out the world articles in the wiki. It is no longer updated and may be out of date.; example: Beyond Sector has Beyond Sector/world list; template: {{world list}}; displayed as:

Subsector subpages[edit]

(subsector)/summary, (subsector)/summary/<milieu>: Automated; The (subsector)/summary page contains a set of text generated by the PyRoute project describing the statistics about the subsector. This text is included into the main subsector article using the Template:Summary. In some cases the generation process has been run on the data from different milieus and the data is put on separate subpages.

/core: These appear to contain generated data. They use {{subsector uwp}} and {{subsector economics}} templates. Use unknow.; describe when and why to create this subpage; example: Bunkeria Subsector has Bunkeria Subsector/core

World subpages[edit]

(world)/data: Automated; The worlds in several sectors have "/data" pages which contain {{StellarData...}} templates. The templates on these pages were generated as part of the PyRoute project to include the data generated into the wiki. These templates may be updated by the same generation process, and should not be edited by hand.; example: Regina (world) has Regina (world)/data. This contains data for both Milieu 1116 and New Era.

User subpages[edit]

/sandbox [n]: used as part of some user pages for experimenting with wiki features, template design, and a place to save work in progress. These pages may be altered at any time, so don't rely on their contents. If you have comments about sandbox page, ask directly on the user's talk page.; example: User:Tjoneslo has User:Tjoneslo/sandbox and User:Tjoneslo/sandbox1

/layout template n: User:Maksim-Smelchak#Handy_Templates_.26_Research - This is used by some users as an organizational tool, to collect information about how to lay out new articles and provide quick access to research for updates. Use of the "layout template N" is a personal decision. If you have comments about the layout template page(s), ask directly on the user's talk page.; example: Ashleaf has Ashleaf/layout templates1

Template subpages[edit]

/doc: The documentation for the template lives on a subpage and included on the main page via template. The reason for this is every time you edit the template, a wiki background process has to do through and update all the articles using the template. With the documentation on a separate page, the update only needs to update the template page not a whole host of articles.
