Notes (2007)
The origin of the Traveller displacement ton derives from the starship maps produced in early Traveller products:
- Snapshot used 1.5 meter squares for mapping combats, specifically the interior of starships.
- Two of these squares, with a 3 meter deck separation was defined as a "ton" of space.
- It was later discovered that 13.5 cubic meters is about the same as a ton of liquid hydrogen.
