Categories[edit]
Do we need a "Category" column - Star, Giant Star, Supergiant Star, White Dwarf, Brown Dwarf, Neutron Star and Black Hole?

- Good idea. Can I suggest "Main Sequence", "Giant", and "Supergiant" (to match the general stellar categorization from the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram, and "Stellar Remnant" (for White Dwarf, Neutron Star, Pulsar, and Black Hole). Or do you want to divide the Main Sequence stars further? Tjoneslo (talk) 17:51, 10 July 2020 (EDT)
- Will regenerate and publish updated table tomorrow as second draft. BackworldTraveller (talk) 10:02, 11 July 2020 (EDT)

2nd draft for review: BackworldTraveller (talk) 13:46, 11 July 2020 (EDT) n.b. I deliberately haven't distinguished between types of Main Sequence (and Sub-Main Sequence), (sub-Giant and) Giant, and various types of Supergiant BackworldTraveller (talk) 13:48, 11 July 2020 (EDT)
Safe approach distance to the star.[edit]
In another discussion about in-system travel, the idea was trying to get from one planet to another when they are in opposition. This would plot a course that, essentially goes straight through the primary. This doesn't work very well in the real world. So let's create an arbitrary "safe approach" distance where the black-body temperature is 1000K. Plotting a course for in-system travel closer than this to the star results in overheating of the craft. It is, as as I said, an arbitrary standard.
Also I send you a note through the wiki email system about getting your spreadsheet. Please let me know. Tjoneslo (talk) 07:07, 13 July 2020 (EDT)
Nothing I can see in my inbox or junk mail. Working on 1000K limit. BackworldTraveller (talk) 07:16, 13 July 2020 (EDT)
- Can you try sending me your email through Special:EmailUser/Tjoneslo. Also can we put these large tables into separate subpages: Template:StarData/data draft 1, Template:StarData/data draft 2, etc. It will make finding the different drafts easier. Tjoneslo (talk) 07:45, 13 July 2020 (EDT)
3rd Draft[edit]
Third draft for review. BackworldTraveller (talk) 07:26, 13 July 2020 (EDT)

Template Review Draft 3[edit]
I have gotten the template updated with all the changes discussed here. I have the spreadsheet with the data for the tables ready to go. I think this is all good. I'll need a place to dump the templates to generate the data. Then Update the Monostellar/binary/trinary templates to pull the data based upon the star type and add the data, and add the calculations for the various orbits. Star data template update 4[edit]
I have your spreadsheet and updated it to produce the template to insert the data. The template has the current set of data to include in the template and the underlying data table. Is this everything we want, or can calculate to update into the stellar data templates? Tjoneslo (talk) 08:12, 8 August 2020 (EDT)
