Tarnis is the name of the yellowish-white primary star of the Darrian system.
- It has a degenerate dwarf companion called Lilimes.
Description (Specifications)
Tarnis's white dwarf companion, Lilimes, orbits at a distance of 40AU. It was originally the more massive (and hence "bluer") of the two stars, but used up its core hydrogen faster than Tyeyo as a result, and hence entered the giant-branch as a red giant sooner. It lost about half of its mass toward the end of its helium-burning giant-phase as a planetary nebula when the outer layers of the giant star became gravitationally unbound as the giant continued to expand, leaving behind only the degenerate core.
