Taraque is a poor, low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Worlds of The Leader in the Arodir Subsector of Far Home Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.

The primary is Gysoko, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.08 Sols, a mass of 0.570 Sols, and a diameter of 788,000 km. (I-I) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, and (I-II) Taraque, designated the mainworld, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (IV) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (V) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (VI) a ringed large gas giant, (VII) a small gas giant, (VIII) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Taraque has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
