Some linguistic clues from the world names in Ilelish Sector:

  • Squee'kak (Ilelish 2506), Squee'qua (2708), Squee'tak (3103), and Squee'twok (1715) are obviously Suerrat-named (several of them are listed as Suerrat worlds in the present, and they're all in relative proximity). Note that all are Water or ocean worlds.
  • I notice K'laktash (2316) and K'lakt'squa (2230), also both in trailing Ilelish; the sounds suggest to me this is the same language as the Squee worlds, presumably Na'ans. As both K'lakt planets are water worlds, we might also assume that "K'lakt" has something to do with water or sea?
  • 'Tlak (2305) and 'Twee (2408) are also in the general area, and possibly Na'ans?

Notes (2018)

The description of the Suerrat by Charles Kimball in Alien Realms Volume 1 Issue 3 is significantly different than the other version, and not included in the main article. Charles' version are more like Drow (dark skin, light hair, living underground). The source is left here for historical purposes.

That was based on the old HIWG write-up, which predates the art used here. The modern version of the Suerrat starts with that picture then proceeds through the T4 JTAS Contact article and into the GURPS treatment.

Population

The JTAS Contact article indicates the Suerrat are the majority of the Ilelish sector population. If their world designations came from Bearers of the Flame, that's post-Virus when their life support heavy worlds would have been wiped out. The Contact article is not necessarily a Milieu Zero article despite being released during T4, but the settlement patterns and entrenched populations would likely have been in place already. In my opinion, the Suerrat world designation, and the sector in general, needs more attention.
