Platypoecilus? (2007)[edit]

What have anolas got to do with platyfish?

I will change this reference to Amphiprion (clownfish) which are sequentially hermaphroditic in a few days if no one objects or explains

Given this was copied from the source material, you'll have to ask the author (Marc Miller) why he choose platyfish over any other example. It may be at the time of the writing it was thought that Playtfish were hermaphroditic, a claim since proven false.

The Pysadi system consists of two separate star systems within the same hex - Pysadi, orbiting a yellow-white F-type star, and Amadanu, orbiting a red M-type star. They lie around 1600 AU (approximately 9.25 light days) from one another.

Pysadi, the mainworld, is the third of five rocky worlds that orbit the F-type primary and lies within the prime region of its habitable zone. Two rocky vacuum worlds lie starward, within the inner system, and an exotic atmosphere superterran orbits towards the outer edge of the habitable zone. A small, very thin atmosphere desert world orbits beyond the habitable zone. Both Pysadi and the exotic atmosphere world retain satellites. The fringe of the Pysadi system is marked by Mardax, a very large gas giant (168,000 km diameter) with a spectacular ring system. It retains three major moons, including Lengu (D3A0216-8), an exotic atmosphere iceworld.

Lengu is the site of an orbital fuel refinery operated by Aramis Resource Provision LIC, an offworld corporation headquartered at Aramis (3110 Aramis) that pays an annual tithe to Pysadi's government. The corporation runs fuel barges between the mainworld's limited orbital facilities and the gas giant, providing refined fuel to the large merchant vessels that collect the world's agricultural produce. The rugged fuel transports are maintained by visiting commercial tenders. Pysadi itself is a small world with a relatively high density and a correspondingly high gravity for its size - the surface gravity is approximately 0.59 G. The atmosphere contains a high percentage of oxygen and has significant traces of gases including nitrogen oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3). Breathing unfiltered atmospheric gases causes giddiness, loss of coordination and mental control, lung damage and eventually death. Locals have significantly greater tolerance for breathing the atmosphere without a filter mask. The world has extensive native life and is reknowned for production of vegetables and fruits, including products such as skymelons and trakes.

The secondary Amadanu system consists of a trace atmosphere rocky world orbiting very close to the small red star and a tainted atmosphere terrestrial world (UWP X675000-3) that lies within the primaries narrow habitable zone. Neither world retains satellites and both are tidally locked. Safe jump distance from the star is far beyond Amadanu's orbit. During the early Imperial expansion into the Marches, Amadanu was the first world within the hex that was settled. The atmospheric taint - elevated radiation levels caused by periodic flares from the primary - and the long travel times between safe jump and the world proved serious enough obstacles to habitation that the settlement was abandoned within a century. All that remains of the Amadanu colony are decaying ruins.
