Wayne, which sector is it located in?

136 parsecs rimward puts it off the charted space map. There isn't an official sector name for the area where this is located. And it may be more than one. Tjoneslo (talk) 07:35, 3 June 2016 (EDT)

It is off the Rimward edge of the Charted Space map, and it has never been canonically placed. But it is close enough to Charted Space to be a place of interest for some GMs, particularly those who set up their campaigns on the Rimward Solomani Frontier. I have provided the actual galactic coordinates of the approximate center of the cluster so that those GMs who wish to locate it for their own use have the information at hand.
Based on the general longitude bearing of both the Pleiades and the Hyades, and the canonical identification of the Hyades in subsector A of Canopus Sector, they would most likely be somewhere close to Uistilrao Sector or thereabouts (accounting for the 45o rotation of Charted Space coordinate axes with respect to true galactic coordinate axes) - See Pleiades Cluster/meta.
Randy Dorman's unofficial Neworld Sector data places several of the core stars there, but that seems to me to be too far trailing for the placement of the cluster (and also on the wrong side of the Hyades).

I mostly asked because my calculations did place it in known space south of SoCf, but I didn't want to start to place it without some agreement form a few other senior Wiki collaborators like you two, Thomas and Wayne.

Actually, I would suggest just leaving it unplaced and allow individual GMs to place it in their own campaigns as they see fit, based on the galactic coordinate information I provided in the write-up and the placement notes on the metadata page. If it ever does become canonically located based on a licensed publisher's work, then we can go in and add the positional information on the page.

Sounds great. Thanks, Wayne.

This is somewhat a necropost, but Ahkiweahi' Sector is alternately known as Seven Sisters Sector, suggesting the Pleiades "should be" in that sector. 77topaz (talk) 02:09, 26 October 2018 (EDT)

Is there a canonical (or non-canonical) source for this that you are aware of that can be cited in the bibliographic notes in the References section?

I think the names for the rimward Aslan sectors are originally from Alien - Solomani & Aslan. Other rimward names are mostly from HIWG. 77topaz (talk) 16:47, 28 October 2018 (EDT)
