Notes (2018)[edit]

The reference from the Referee's Manual is a notation on the Cultural regions map. There is no further information available.

  • Interestingly, the Traveller Map places Libert at 1109, which is about 4-6 parsecs to trailing from where the Libert is noted on the Referee's Manual map.

Some odd metadata and Traveller history can be found behind them.

They first appeared in an 80s list of aliens being collected by Marc from the inhabitants of GEnie and HIWG membership. Clay Bush is the supposed source for them, though he suggested the world of Nullia in Old Expanses. The Nullians would eventually become their own listing, but the Liberts persisted in the old list.

The Liberts were found by Don McKinney during his collection of all known races. At some point the decision was made to make them Canon and place them on the world of the same name, the sector capital of Diaspora. In time, this led to them getting a wiki page. A page with no real data, since they have no prior material. We can fix that.

Libert is a spectacularly poor world to host a naturally evolved race, or even a successful Ancients transplant. Might I suggest they are a GenAssist project, inadvertently abandoned during the Long Night.
