Capital Confusion Notes (2007)[edit]

I'll need to check Solomani et al, but I think the Domain capital is in Diaspora or Old Expanses (at any rate, not in Solomani Rim). Dingir is the sector capital, and Muan Gwi becomes the the domain (but not sector) capital in the GT timeline. I came across this while trying to sort out what to mark capitals on the Solomani Rim subsector maps. Hmm. Rim of Fire might also be where I saw the reference as to where the previous capital was....

Rim of Fire says in several places that it was moved from the Diaspora Sector to Muan Gwi, but refuses to say where in Diaspora. Also, the timeline gives the announcement in 1112, the bureaucracy shifting over in 1114, and Archduke Adair himself taking up residence on Muan Gwi in early 1115. This implies that Muan Gwi is the Domain capital at the technical base time of this wiki—right before the Rebellion in 1116.
Can someone with Astrogator's Guide to Diaspora check what it says on the subject? The only world actually marked within Diaspora in the MT maps is Libert, the Sector capitol, and from that about the only real bet for the former capital.

AGttDS has no discussion about the Sol domain capitol. It notes that Libert is the Sector capital, but contains no further updates on the matter.

Nobles likewise states that Adair moved the capital to Muan Gwi in 1112. It also says that he grew up on "Exeter/Diaspora, then the capital of the Domain of Sol."

Muan Gwi is the capital of the Vegan Autonomous District, so how can it be the sector capital. I also don't recall there being any base time for the wiki, we are supposed to be supporting all time lines. However all the mapping information is based on 1111, so I would put that as the default for any astrographical data, with any other time lines as an alternative text.

I'm not finding a particular discussion at this moment, but the impression I got was that the 'default time' of the wiki was just before the Rebellion starts. It's good for people playing CT, and close for people playing Rebellion and GT timelines. Note, that's 'default' not 'only', the wiki does serve all times, and I'd be happy to do separate maps for them as well (and apologize if I implied anything else). Feel free to register things you'd like to see at Category talk:Subsector Map. (Note that I have no TNE material, so maps of the Regency and such will entail a bit more work....)
The maps for Solomani Rim are 1111, because that's when the Solomani alien module is set, and I haven't worried much about if anything map-altering in RoF (1120) happened. ;) In most cases, there shouldn't really be any map differences until 1116+ (don't remember the amount of news lag offhand) when the Solomani invade as part of the Rebellion arc.
The Vegan Autonomous District is still a part of the Imperium, so a high-level (Domain) capital I think makes some sense. The sector capital is indeed separate, at Dingir.
And note that either way, the map looks the same. Muan Gwi gets a star as a capital of the VAD or of a domain. (I admit, I came up with the scheme to show where different levels of capitals were and weren't combined, and didn't anticipate this case....)
Rancke, thanks for the G:Nobles reference. I was thinking earlier this morning that it'd be the next place to look. (I've had my copy for all of two weeks now....)
