I have fiddled around with a home-made map I did a while back to match the size of the Galactic-generated map currently used here. To see how it works, edit the article, and near the top where it says 'Image:CHRONOR.jpg', paste in 'Image:Chronor 1120G.jpg" and hit preview.

Assuming people like it, a few questions: What date should the map be accurate for? (Mine is currently 1120 in the GT timeline, but converting to 1116 or 1100 is not that hard—1200/TNE, on the other hand....) Should I show borders at all? Travel advisories and starports change over time, but not as fast as borders.

Most of my symbology is GDW-standard, but I use a variation of the the system in the GT Planetary Surveys for the worlds: As = standard group of small circles Va = White Ic = White with blue border De = Yellow Wa = Blue Eo (or Exotic atmosphere types) = Red All else is green.

Cheers! --Rindis 19:45, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

The general theory is the wiki is for the 1110-1116 time frame (post-Fifth frontier war, pre-assassination attempt). It may be a later project to produce the maps for all the milieus (First Imperium, Second Imperium, Milieu 0, First Survey, Second Survey, classic era, Hard Times, TNE) but that's for later when we have real data for all of them.
Can you, if given the data, produce subsector maps for more than just the Spinward Marches? It would be nice if subsector maps were produced for every subsector in Charted Space, they all look consistent. Tjoneslo 20:38, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
In theory, sure! However, it is hand-done, and each sector would take a while. (I think I started a Solomani Rim map.) However, the main thing I did last time that took forever was trying to calculate out the trade routes (a la GT:Far Trader) myself. Then I discovered someone had fed the entire setting into a computer program and just copied him.
Also, I'd probably go to doing the subsectors on the subsector blank form I did, which should allow individual maps to go quicker, but would cause the sector as a whole to go slower.
Oh, and I'm more than willing to hand over the base files to someone who wants to work with them and can read *.cdr --Rindis 21:24, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
The only thing I have to say at this point is, Yes Please. If you are willing to take the time and effort to create these fine map images, we all would love to post them here. I can't do anything with the CorelDraw images, but if I can otherwise be of assistance, ping me and I'll be more than happy to help. Tjoneslo 02:45, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Awww... it's so nice to be appreciated. Anyway, the new version is Image:LCronor_1115.jpg - see what you think. It's done on a subsector form I worked up, so it's less effort trimming out the neighboring areas, but I think I'm having more trouble getting it to match the current image map setup. I'm tempted to ask for a whole new image map template for these, but reseting up the world data every time I update a Galactic map is scary. If we go that route it would allow us to put an upper border in, which I think would look better.
Also, there's various layout tricks that are easy to do (colors, etc.). At the moment I'm just trying to get close to the format of the Galactic form. So feel free to make suggestions, I'll tell you which ones are harder than they look. --Rindis 17:45, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
And I've just updated it to a version that has the formatting I'd like, and taking in a suggestion on making the borders/nationality clearer. --Rindis 20:25, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
And here's an alternate version. (In 'original' size. I've been photoshoping it down t0 40%, but doing that with a fixed image size in the template would be better.) The main thing is I've made room for the adjacent subsector names, which could then be made part of the image map. --Rindis 21:04, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
