Tai'Pan is a title given to wealthy mercantile dynasties within Dagudashaag Sector.

Description (Specifications)

Tai'Pan are, broadly speaking, extended noble families divided into smaller clans.

  • Many of the clans that make up a Tai'Pan do not directly hold a noble status.

Many Tai'Pan function as corporations, commanding enormous wealth and resources and wielding a huge amount of political influence.

History & Background (Dossier)

The majority of Tai'Pan of Argi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector are polygamous: Subsector Duke Huan Tas Han-Ch'ing is famously listed as having 16 wives, two brother-husbands, and is listed as the joint father of 36 children.

The Tai'Pan families can trace their heritage over centuries. Many of the families are eager to learn more and will pay handsomely for researched and provenanced artifacts and data relating to their particular clan. Such trinkets and history elevate them in their eyes of their peers, shifting the delicate balance of status in their favor.
