General Description

The Nedric class corvette is deployed by the Trooles Confederation. Examples of the class can be encountered throughout the coreward parts of Theta Borealis Sector. The vessel has a partially streamlined cylindrical structure hull. It is fitted with fuel scoops and fuel purification plant allowing it to perform wilderness gas giant refueling.

There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There are multiple emergency lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Jump-1 drive, a Maneuver-1 drive, and an upgraded fusion Power Plant-1, giving performance of Jump-1 and 1-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 1. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for two Jump-1s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. It is fitted with drop tanks, should extended range operations be required. The engineering section has a main control room. The jump drive utilizes a lanthanum hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is a pair of Model/4 fib computers. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a basic sensor array, and has an avionics suite. They have system range laser, microwave and radio communication arrays.

History & Background (Dossier)

The TC8 Nedric class Corvette class is used by the Trooles Confederation. These partially streamlined cylindrical structures are a contribution from the planetary navy of a member state. This world had an older local system defense monitor design based on an armored tube. Armor was the primary concern and all other factors were of secondary importance. Civilian merchant drives were pressed into service and the performance suffered greatly. As a result it is the slowest class of ship in the fleet. It is frequently deployed alone or in pairs because it lacks the speed, agility and range to keep up with the main fleet elements. They also arrived for duty with a pair of obsolete Model 4 fib computers. Plans were in the works for hardware and software upgrades and refits but have yet to be approved. They carry a platoon of marines with a TC02 Grave Endeavor class Dropship and a pair of 4 ton TC004 Rambler class Grav APCs.

Vessels of the Trooles Confederation are given alphanumeric designations and callsigns by other interstellar states. TC refers to Trooles Confederation (a designation applied to all Confederation combat units), 8 is a multiple of hundreds of tons of displacement and also indicates at a glance the number of weapons mounts, and when it is used 'b' refers to the version of the vessel, relating to its construction tech level and bracketing its maximum jump potential. Type codes will often repeat: 'Nedric' is an easy to remember class name to identify the specific type of vessel.

Individual vessels are named by a committee using an authorized list.
