Shukain has an exotic, corrosive, or insidious atmosphere with a small percentage of liquid, but not water, on the surface. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Shukain, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Khuunis.

Astrography and planetology

The oppressive atmosphere of Shukain has limited the development of the world – the very hot, insidious gaseous mix has restricted colonisation to the polar ore fields.

History and background

The polar ore field host the factory-mines producing raw materials for export to industrial complexes on Giinashkhid (Dagudashaag 1502). The mines are enclosed in domes; each a self-contained functionally independent of each other. There are several councils regulating every facet of the life and operation of domes/mines.

The scout base is situated on the world of Bellik, the next orbit out from Shukain, where there is a research station undertaking studies on the system’s primary.
