Shionthy is a ring of many small planetoids not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water. The system has a population between 10 million and 1 billion sophonts. This world contains an archaeological site with artifacts suspected to be from the now-vanished Ancients. This world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Regina Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb.
Astrography & Planetology
Imperial member system interdicted because of the extreme danger to traffic posed by the presence of small anti-matter particles. Contact with even a microscopic particle can cause severe damage.
The large belt dominating this system is believed by many authorities to be the result of the destruction of a large world by the Ancients. The anti-matter is believed to be the instrument of destruction.
Before interdiction, Shionthy had already acquired a population of belters collecting anti-matter fragments, worth several million credits per gram. Imperial law allows established populations to remain in a system after interdiction, and despite periodic disasters, the population has grown to an estimated 70 million. The inhabitants sell their finds to the Imperium, which, despite the humanitarian concerns which led to interdiction, finds the present arrangement too valuable to abandon.

History & Background (Dossier)
Shionthy is in some references spelled as Shinothy.
The world is believed to once have had a large population of Droyne.
Point of Interest: Socrates Station
Socrates Station is an established trade station located within the Shionthy belt. The station is on a planetoid which is trapped in a stable Lagrange point trailing behind the gas giant socrates. Socrates Station is well known to Imperial Authorities and is considered one of the more modern and civilized locations in the system. Fuel, accommodations and minor maintenance or repairs can be found here.
The station has a Mayor and three town councilmen who manage the town and the Starport. They have a friendly arraingement with the Imperium Navy for victualing, fuel and general resupply in exchange for allowing them to remain within the interdicted zone.
In addition to Shionthy Startown, other major settlements on Shionthy include Erum Gah and Surink.
