System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data
Mainworld Size (S)
Shakhamash is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Shakhamash has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Shakhamash has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)
Shakhamash is the homeworld of the Hanen, a human minor race transplanted to the world by the Ancients. Hanen are broadly physically similar to other types of humans, though most have a thicker skin and more subcutaneous fat than the baseline, giving them a slightly chubby appearance, and few are able to grow body or facial hair. The Hanen are naturally good swimmers and are "drawn" to water. They have the ability to hold their breaths for long periods while submerged.
The world serves as the Imperial subsector capital.
During the late pre-Imperial period it maintained good relations with the Graytch Harmony. Graytch communities were first established on the world during this time.
Despite its position in the Lancian Cultural Region, the world itself isn't strongly Lancian in nature, having more in common with the industrial worlds lying towards the Imperial rim. Kehuu, the primary Lancian language, is only rarely heard, most often being used in an official capacity.
World Starport (St)
Shakhamash has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a Naval Base.
World Population (P)
Shakhamash has a population of 5,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- Around 90% of the population consists of Hanen, a minor human race.
- About 10% of the population is made up of Graytch.
Urbanization
The Hanen live on the myriad small islands and floating mats of biomass that dot the planet.
The Graytch, who prefer a colder environment, primarily inhabit the chillier subpolar and polar regions.
World Languages
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Ga-ray-cha, the primary language of the Graytch.
- Native Hanen languages, spoken within most Hanen communities.
- Ushi, a language used throughout Gushemege Sector.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)
Shakhamash possesses a Technology Level of TL–15 or TL-F in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Meson Communicators and Pseudo Reality Communications.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, improved collectors, and advanced Fusion+.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Advanced gravcraft.
- Air: Advanced gravcraft and speeders.
- Space: Advanced gravcraft and G-Carriers.
- FTL: Jump Drive-6.
World Government (G)
Shakhamash is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Law (L)
Shakhamash has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
- Graytch legal codes treat almost all crime as an example of mental illness, and hand out banishment as one of their most substantial punishments.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility (N)
Shakhamash, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial count.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial subsector duke.
Trade Data
- Importance: 4 (important)
Shakhamash has a very strong mining industry, particularly radioactives and raw hydrocarbons, and is well regarded for its intrinsically safe harsh-environment robots.
It is also noted as a manufacturer of kelp, coral, and crystal-based products.
World Economy
- Resources: E (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: G (very comprehensive)
- Efficiency: +5 (very advanced)
World Culture
- Heterogenity: B (discordant)
- Acceptance: D (very xenophilic)
- Strangeness: 7 (comfusing)
- Symbols: H (incomprehensibly abstract)
