The Segani of Segan (Deneb 2717) are a technologically sophisticated Minor Non-Human Race with a semi-humanoid appearance.

Description (Specifications)

The Segani are noted for being generally unable to tolerate jump space, as travelling at jump causes mental breakdown.

Tall and thin to maximise surface area for temperature regulation, this heat-adapted race is notable for the folds of skin that hang around the neck like a naturally occurring hood.

Lithe and aggressive, Segani are known for striking quickly. Despite a history of warfare among themselves, they share their world with Humans and Vargr quite happily.

History & Background (Dossier)

Although it's unclear whether they were an engineered species or if they evolved naturally, it is known that Segani were transplanted on their ‘homeworld’ of Segan, as was all of the world's complex life.

Segani technology reached TL-10 around -400 and they had settlements on other bodies in their solar system when the Imperium arrived. Even with alien contact, they didn't use the jump drive, as being in jumpspace can drive them insane.
