Saa Kaa is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a part of the Sath Exploration program in the Sath Subsector of Far Home Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
- Warning: Humans are not welcome within Sath-controlled areas. Those few humans that venture into their territory are generally met with a hostile reception and are closely monitored at all times.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It is part of the Hak'tha Spread.

System Data
Sa'aia-Saa Kaa System
The primary is Sa'aia, a dim dwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.00004 Sols, a mass of 0.83 Sols, and a diameter of 12,500 km. (I) the Saa Kaa Main belt, designated the mainworld, (II) a vacuum iceworld, and (III) a ringed small gas giant form the outer system. The gas giant retains satellites.
Ak'ithik Subsystem
The companion is Ak'ithik, a magenta-coloured L-type brown dwarf orbiting Sa'aia at approximately 11.2 AU (orbital position (VIII), 1.67 billion km) and with an orbital period of 41 years 52 days. It is not luminous, it has a mass of 0.062 Sols and a diameter of 60,000 km. (I) a sparse icy planetoid belt and (II) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Neither world retains satellites.
Mainworld Data
(I) Saa Kaa Main Belt
(I) the Saa Kaa Main Belt orbits close to the primary and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 0.14 AU from Sa'aia and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 50 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 0.06 AU from the star and the outer edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of icy bodies, is considered to lie at approximately 0.34 AU. The main inhabited body is an irregularly shaped rock named Saa Kiis, with a mean orbital distance of 0.21 AU around Sa'aia and an orbital period of 38 days 14 hours. It has a long axis of 120 km, a density of 3.35 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.006 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrographics. Mean surface temperature: -216°C.
Native Lifeforms
Sa'aia-Saa Kaa System
No world in the system is known to have native life.
Ak'ithik Subsystem
No native life is known to exist within the subsystem.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Saa Kaa has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Saa Kaa possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World government
Saa Kaa is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to write the policies voted on. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by voting population.
