Rhylanor is Subsector H of the Spinward Marches Sector and is a storied subsector, the site of many battles, the birthplace of many famous personages, and a place with much in the way of history and legend.

All but seven of the subsector's 32 worlds are situated on one of two arms of the Spinward Main, and thus accessible by jump-l starships. The subsector thus sees an immense amount of commercial traffic.

Physical Astrography

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this subsector:

Politics and Diplomacy : Milieu 1116

The Subsector Duke of Rhylanor Subsector is His Grace the Lord Leonard Stephanos Kirgashii.

Rhylanor is, perhaps, best known as the birthplace of Olav hault-Plankwell - Olav I , first of the Emperors of the Flag. As Grand Admiral of the Marches, Olav led the March Fleet against the Outworld Coalition in the First Frontier War. In 604, with a victory in his pocket (and the victorious fleet at his back) he drove on the Imperial core and proclaimed himself Emperor. His fleet gave the Moot no choice but acquiescence. Olav's birthplace on Rhylanor (2716) is currently a minor tourist attraction.

In fact, the Rhylanor subsector, at the opposite end of the Spinward Marches from the Zhodani border, has seen more than its fair share of crucial battles in the Frontier Wars. Zivije (2812) and Jae Tellona (2814) were the sites of the climactic battles where Plankwell destroyed the Zhodani expeditionary fleet.

In the Third Frontier War, Porozlo (2715) was taken by the Zhodani and served as their base for the siege of Rhylanor (2716), which became the site of many battles before the siege was ultimately lifted by the end of 981.

Rhylanor Subsector was the site of several battles in the Fifth Frontier War, notably the final turning of the tide at Zivije and Rhylanor itself. The latter system still contains relics of the final battle, know as the Warships' Graveyard. The area is designated a war grave by both the Zhodani Consulate and the Imperial authorities.

Naval Fleet

Pre Fifth Frontier War: The Rhylanor Subsector is defended by 212th Fleet.
Post Fifth Frontier War: The Rhylanor Subsector is defended by 23rd Fleet.

The subsector fleet is based out of Rhylanor, Jae Tellona, Macene, Margesi and Nutema. There are heavy elements of Sector Fleet including several BatRons and CruRons held in reserve at Macene.

Unusually, the Spinward Marches Sector does not have a Naval Depot world like other sectors. Macene is the largest and most important naval base in the sector, and may eventually be expanded to a full Imperial Navy Depot.

Summary

Rhylanor, subsector H of Spinward Marches contains 32 worlds with an estimated population of 36 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,170, and a total economy is BCr225,975. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr4,172 through 25 starports (7 Class A, 8 Class B, 9 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 1,043,055 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, one Rich (Ri) world, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Rhylanor maintain seven Naval bases, and five Scout bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 4 and 11). The highest technology level is 15 at Rhylanor (Spinward Marches 2716).

Rhylanor, subsector H of Spinward Marches contains 43 stars and 349 identified planets; 21 monostellar systems, 11 binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 23 of the 32 systems (71%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, three Desert (De) worlds, four Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, three Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Rhylanor has an estimated population of 36 billion distributed across five High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, 16 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, six Low population (Lo) worlds, and two Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Porozlo (Spinward Marches 2715). The population consists of 5 sophont groups including one native sophont.

5 identified sophont populations in Rhylanor

Third Imperium, Domain of Deneb

The Third Imperium, Domain of Deneb has jurisdiction over all of the worlds with an estimated population of 36 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,170, and a total economy is BCr225,975. The governments in Third Imperium, Domain of Deneb maintain seven Naval bases, and five Scout bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 4 and 11). The highest technology level is 15 at Rhylanor (Spinward Marches 2716).

The Third Imperium, Domain of Deneb has an estimated population of 36 billion distributed across five High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, 16 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, six Low population (Lo) worlds, and two Barren (Ba) worlds.
