Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The Protector class Command Carrier is a specialized fighter-carrying warship.
- It is a military ship and a Command Carrier.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
It is a vessel with 2-G and J-2 performance with a Unstreamlined Dispersed Structure Hull. This class serves with the fleets of the Vilani Protectorate. This vessel incorporates common Vilani design features including the standard Jump-2 requirement, 2 Gs acceleration, but has a tiny cargo hold, and enough low berths for a frozen watch. The dispersed structure hull is selected to allow all fighters and combat vessels to launch and recover as quickly as possible. It is incapable of wilderness refueling on its own and is dependent on fleet logistical assets. Its own subcraft can skim fuel for it, and it has its own fuel refineries for on board fuel purification. There is a back-up Model/5 fib ship computer.
- It carries heavy armament and a powerful defensive suite. The hull is unarmored, and relies on twenty sand caster batteries and a pair of crude experimental repulsor bays for defense. The weapon load out is keyed to defensive fire control to screen missile strikes and fighter attacks. Offense is limited to twenty missile bays and eight particle accelerator bays.
- It ordinarily carries many subcraft and drones when needed. A small company of fleet marines is carried for security versus boarding actions. They are equipped with 88 assault capsules of planetary commando missions, snatch and grabs, recon, and shore parties for adjusting ortillery fire missions. The four heavy shuttles, ten squadrons of 10-ton light fighters. They carry to scouts and a pair of 24,000 ton Battle Riders.
- It has a 775 sophont crew and 90 marines.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary.
