Primordial/secret

The Primordial race pre-dated the Ancients by some 250,000 years.

History & Background (Dossier)

The Ancients were studying this race, and borrowed some technology from them.

• Most of the Primordials, as represented by the Massilia ruins, hit a singularity; some left reality, some destroyed themselves.
• Their Tech level was somewhere around the "psionic engineering" level when they met their fate.
• The Primordials have two abandoned cities accessible from Imperial space, and three from Vargr space.
• Their cities were situated in tiny pocket universes on featureless planet-like structures (Knightfall p53: "a startling, glimmering, city-like scene appears, sitting on a flat plane that runs in all directions to the horizon.").
• Flora and architecture both follow a spiral pattern.
• They used organic starship hulls.
• The Primordials did not have Jump or other FTL technology, but achieved FTL travel through psionic means.

Physiology & Environment (Ecology)

The mature Primordial was a lizard-like creature that lived (part of the time) in a spiral mollusk-like shell.

• They usually anchor themselves to the walls of their ship like huge barnacles, and then manipulate things psionically.
• The Primordials were tall, upright creatures with wide, flat bodies, long, flat heads, and tails. (Knightfall pg.70)
• The race was also highly psionic in the areas of Telekinesis and Teleportation. A strong Primordial could move a ship up to 1 AU per day; a group of 100 Primordials working together could move a starship 1 light year in a year's time.
