Philip Athan (b. 1964) is a author, screenwriter, and avid roleplayer.

He graduated from film school in 1985 and started small circulation literary magazine called Alternative Fiction & Poetry.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was a member of HIWG and worked with Michael R. Mikesh on the Core Sector data.

In 1997 became Managing Editor for Wizards of the Coast Book Publishing, where he’s spent most of his time as the Forgotten Realms novel line editor. He’s edited over seventy novels for TSR and Wizards of the Coast, and helped launch the Greyhawk®, Dark Matter®, Star*Drive®, and Dungeons & Dragons® novel lines while making time to write books, the occasional short story, and even a screenplay or two.

He wrote Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, a novelization of the computer game. He continues to write novels for the Forgotten Realms line, and edit books for
