Phaeturn is a nonindustrial, pre-rich water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It still lacks adequate population to expand its economy to a rich status.
- Its economy is growing and living conditions are expected to rise in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Hedreunides Subsector of Matzen Sector.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
- This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
- World Name Pronounced As 'Fay-turn'

System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x10 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
- x1 planetoid belt.
System Chart
Diagrams of the Phaeturn primary and companion systems.
Mainworld Data
- Phaeturn has an orbital period of 408.36 standard days.
- The planet has a rotational period of 32.8 standard hours.
- Phaeturn has an axial tilt of 3 degrees.
- The average surface temperature is -9.41c
Mainworld Size (S)
Phaeturn is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
- The planet has a diameter of 2754 miles / 4406 kilometres.
- Phaeturn has a molten core with a density of 0.86.
- The surface gravity of the planet is 0.36 standard as a result it is classified as a low gravity world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Phaeturn has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- The atmosphere of Phaeturn is summarised as 'Standard Oxygen-Nitrogen Mix with a gas taint.'
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Phaeturn has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
- The surface of the planet has been calculated at 99% coverage. The only landmass is a single large artificial archipelago constructed to house the starport and some elements of the startown that supports it.
- The vast majority of the ocean surface is covered in ice sheet that is extremely thick at the poles but fractured and drifting around the equator.
Satellites:
- Phaeturn has an extremely unusual satellite located in a remote orbit to the planet itself.
- The satellite is named as Trilco and has been classified as a dangerous storm world in its own route. Extremely unusual in that the satellite is significantly larger than its parent planet.
- The satellite UWP is: Y-CC5000-0
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No information yet available.
Native Lifeforms
- Phaeturn does have significant native life all of which is marine in nature.
- Life forms range from single cell organims right up to the huge sea creatures most akin to whales found on Earth.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World Starport (St)
Phaeturn has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The starport is located on the artifical archipelago located on the planets equatorial region.
- All landing pads and ship hangers are on the surface of the planet and often on platforms located high above the water.
- The vast majority of the support infrastructure is located under the water and is located in prefab buildings sunk beneath the waves or in the extensive network of locations built into the bed rock under the artifical archipelago.
Facilities
Port facilities within the system include:
- Standard support infrastructure that would be expected at an Type B starport.
- Key interfaces into starships are located on the surface eg fuel stations, maintenance etc.
- Non-direct interface facilities and infrastructure is located under the ocean surface eg hotels, crew quarters etc
World Technology Level (T)
Phaeturn possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)
Phaeturn is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Military
No information yet available.
World Law (L)
Phaeturn has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
World Economy
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
Trade Data
- Importance: -1 (ordinary)
World Demographics (P)
Phaeturn has a population of c400,000
Urbanization
- The planet only has one substantial urban area and that is the Startown, simply referred to as Phaeturn Down.
- The city extends across the artifical archipelago but is far more wide spread under waves and spreads across the ocean bed and deep into the bed rock.
- There are many ore extraction facilities located under the ocean that are connected via numerous submarine vessels.
- There are several huge submarine vessels carrying thousands of people across the ocean bed. These vessels are usually owned by ore extraction companies and serve as both mobile factories and also homes for their occupants.
World Culture
- Heterogeneity: 8 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 9 (extremely confusing)
- Symbols: G (extremely abstract)
