Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The Orpheus class Destroyer is a warship.
- It is a military ship and a Destroyer.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
This design has been serving with the 107th Fleet. The non standard hull size has been the subject of an internal investigation and may have been the result of a clerical error on a work order. The sub contractor, rather than question the irregularity simply shrugged and turned out millings, dies and tools for the automated robotic fabrication of these lightly armored streamlined needles. Embarrassed shipyard workers blamed it on a programming glitch. As a result all fuel tankage, and drive fittings are non-standard and replacements must be custom built. Fitted for ocean refueling with scoops and fuel purification, they are capable of jump 4, 4 Gs acceleration and 4 agility. A standard cyclone class heavy missile bay was fitted, equipped to carry nuclear ordinance, a particle accelerator bay, a pair of fusion guns, and four pulse lasers round out the weapons load. Maximum screens, an excellent repulsor bay and a pair of triple sand caster turrets aft of the bridge provide defense. The marine section has an extra billet for a green lieutenant, who has not yet been deemed worthy of their own platoon. In practice the senior NCO "commands" the squads, while their young officer learns the ropes.
Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]
