(-1110 to 588): Old Earth Union. The Old Earth Union was an interstellar government from -1110 to 588.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Union was formed in -1110 out of the Terran Mercantile Community as a response to worsening economic conditions. Difficulties arose, however; a short, vicious trade war with the newly formed Dingir League from -1106 to -1098 put a severe strain on both sides. The Union proved strong enough to defend itself from any serious threat during the rest of the Long Night, and in 588 it was peacefully incorporated into the Third Imperium.

The Old Earth Union was succeeded by the Solomani Confederation.

Rebellion Era (Click Show to reveal)
Old Earth Union: Member state of the Solomani Confederation. When Solomani forces retook Terra and her neighbors, the region's exact status was in doubt. After some debate, the region's leaders applied for entry into the Confederation as a member-state. They envisioned a reborn Old Earth Union, a direct successor to the original Old Earth Union, long since fallen to the Imperium. Chances for acceptance look favorable, but the survival of a strong pro-Imperial underground in the region has delayed a final decision.

In addition to the core worlds of the Union, fleet bases were also maintained at Agidda, Markhashi, and Meshan -- all within jump-3 of Terra -- but these systems were not considered part of the Union proper.

Worlds & Sectors (Astrography)[edit]

It was comprised of Terra and the worlds closest to her: Barnard, Calgary, Dismal, Ember, Fenris, Forlorn, Hades, Hephaistos, Inferno, Junction, Loki, Midway, Peraspera, Prometheus, Sirius, and Ys.

Agidda was a balkanized world and thus unable to send representatives to the Union Council, and the worlds of both Markhashi and Meshan had been abandoned by organizations from Old Earth during the recession that followed the fall of the Rim Province in -1690.
