Nova Trigger
A Nova Trigger is a highly advanced weapon capable of devastating entire star systems.
- It is a Weapon of Mass Destruction, a WMD or Thunderball.
- It is unknown at which technology level this weapon is developed, but it is considerably more advanced than the TL:13-15 standards of Charted Space.
- Any such weapons recovered or observed will be artifacts.
Description (Specifications)
As an artifact more advanced than current technological capabilities, the exact properties and capabilities of such devices are not well understood.
However they work, the net effect is apparent: they can artificially or technologically cause a star to prematurely affect a nova state. The nova explosion is thought to be barely directed in earlier technological devices and very controlled or directed in more advanced devices.
History & Background (Dossier)
The Darrian Star Trigger is hypothesized to be a much lower technology cousin of the Nova Trigger, which never the less devastated Darrian civilization and wiped out a large number of star systems.
Such weapons were believed to have been used in the Final War of the Ancients thousands upon thousands of years ago. There are hundreds of documented star systems, which researchers believe were reduced to asteroid belts from the use of these weapons.
